[Vala has been eating this flood up, watching people get schmoopy or snarky. But now she's bored, and would like to, you know, star in the movie instead of watch it. It's just not fair, she never gets to be in the show.]

Honestly, is it too much to ask for a dozen roses? Or chocolates? Because I certainly wouldn't say no to either.

[FINALLY someone with taste. She's opening the door just enough to peek out, because if it turns out to be someone Clapet-like, she's shutting the door - but oh it's a charming con artist, and she's opening the door wide with a big old grin.]

Nick! Thank goodness you came.

[He lets out his usual grin, offering her the single orchid and the small box of chocolates he managed to wrangle up.] In the 19th century, under Queen Victoria, flowers began to develop distinct meetings because the vocabulary necessary to express certain sentiments didn't really emerge to the public until much later. A red rose may signify passion, but it's become cliche from most peoples' ignorance about the lost art.

[Neal leans against her door frame right beside her.] An orchid, on the other hand, denotes a delicate but strong beauty. And, of course, everyone knows that the flavinoids in chocolate reduces your risk of heart problems.

[She would not simper. But Vala did lift the orchid to her nose, inhaling its scent. Nick was a flirt and a flatterer, and she really had no problem with that.]

[He replied with the same perfectly even smile, pristine white teeth flashing from beneath.] Do you want to go out or stay in?

Consider yourself told. [She stepped back into her room, looking for a place to put the orchid.] There isn't very much to do in here, I'm afraid. [It was a plain room, with only a few pieces of furniture; it had the feel of, oh, a regulated room in a government facility that she'd spiced up with a few brightly colored knickknacks here and there.]

I'm sure you and I could come up with something. [He teased, but remained outside with a subtle but clear intent to go out. Neal's gaze took in the whole of the room that was visible to him from his angle without ever taking his eyes off of Vala; it was an art and a talent.]

Although, with this flood on, there's a good possibility we'll just end up stuck in a closet or the elevator anyway.

[She chuckled, settling for setting the orchid down on her dresser for now. When she turned, Vala pursed her mouth to the side and shrugged.]
